MSTP Hellas Ltd is a manufacturing company producing Pacific Petroleum additives for the Marine market, Heavy Industries, Power Plants and Trains. For more than 2 decades we have been supplying various customers with products all over the globe. Our products have proven to give a net saving for our customers due to reduced fuel consumption and a huge positive reduction of dangerous emissions. This is a major benefit for our customer’s corporate image and for the global environment – good for us all.
Our Vision
Today many governments are fighting the depletion of Earth’s natural resources by legislating against pollution. Offenders often face grave fines for breach of these laws. Also, at the same time the world’s oil reserves are diminishing which is a major factor behind the declining quality of bunker fuels and record high prices. This decline in the quality of bunker fuels will most definitely increase emissions from the maritime industry. Not only will the lower quality of fuel have a negative impact on the environment, it will also have negative effects on the shipping industry through increased mechanical wear and tear of their fleet’s engines. This in turn will increase the emissions even more and will result in higher maintenance costs, fines due to more pollution, bad PR and higher costs for entering ports worldwide. The vision behind MSTP Hellas Ltd is to counter this trend. Not only because it is economically beneficial to our customers, but because in the end it is environmentally beneficial to us all. Today and for over twenty years we have provided several solutions to counteract these problems for the shipping industry. The correct use of our products can help a ship decrease its negative impact on the environment and at the same time improve the mechanical function of its engines which will result in substantial cost savings for our customers. In fact the cost for using the additives can be offset and there will still be noticeable savings from reduced fuel consumption maintenance, and repairs etc.
Our History
The development of our additives started in Sweden 1978. The owner of the company at that time was involved in repair and maintenance of marine diesel engines for many years. The target was to improve the engine performance and lubrication properties. From 1989 the manufacturing company for additives MSTP Hellas was established in Greece and from there on a long verification process started by many technical evaluations of the performance. It was found that it was possible to save a significant amount of fuel, get an increased power but the most important was the environmental benefit resulting with up to 75% reduced smoke and soot emission(PM). 1993 the sales and distributing company Pacific Petroleum Ltd was established and have since then contracted several distributors on the world market.
Research and Development
We have an outstanding record of documentation supporting our statements and arguments for the use of our fuel and lube oil additives. The final formulation of our additives went hand in hand with performance testing. The first was done in 1981 by Shanghai Marine Diesel Research Institute on the performance of our system oil additive PP2000 Engine Protector. During the following years the National Technical University of Athens was responsible for several evaluations in cooperation with sea line companies and the Greek Public Power Corporation and the engine manufacturer approval from S.E.M.T Pielstick from France. Since 2004 the use of additives in heavy fuel oil has been endorsed by CIMAC, (International Council on combustion engines) is an international organization, founded in 1950 to promote technical and scientific knowledge in the field of internal combustion engines. It is supported by engine manufacturers, engine users, technical universities, research institutes, component suppliers, fuel and lubricating oil suppliers, classification societies and several other interested parties.
Environment
The use of our fuel and lube oil additives contribute to significant environmental improvements by reducing the black smoke and soot emission. Thick black smokestacks of emissions turn to become colorless already within 12 hours or less. By retarding the injection timing and using our fuel oil additive as a combustion improver the heat release rate increases and the total NOx level can decrease without an increase of PM and soot emission which is the fact without using our additive. In 2002 The Greek Ministry of Mercantile Marine and the Marine Environment Protection Division sent as an official Greek proposal to IMO of the benefits from using our fuel and lube oil additive and its effect regarding black smoke emission.
